Shrewsbury URC

Shrewsbury URC offers a warm welcome! Worship has taken place on this Abbey Foregate site since 1862 (and maybe much longer, since we are so close to the ancient Abbey). In 1972 we became the United Reformed Church, part of the tradition stemming from the Protestant Reformation, but sharing much in common with all the mainstream denominations and valuing our membership of Churches Together. To be in our church is to know and share Gods Glad tidings of great joy for all people brought in Jesus Christ. About 190 members, along with many other worshippers and friends, form Shrewsbury URC, whose mission summary is: To show people they really matter to God.

The church is committed to making sure that services and facilities are accessible to everyone, including those with limited mobility and hearing difficulties. We have made all floor levels in the church the same, and a new doorway into the hall complex.  This has eased access for wheelchair users, and makes movement around the building safe for everyone.

There is an induction loop system for hearing aid users in the church and in the lecture hall. We have a toilet for people with disabilities, and a baby changing station. We provide large print hymn book as well as projecting word onto two large screens.  Large print copies of songs not in our two hymn books are available for people who can not use the screens.

If you need any help please ask.   We can’t second guess your needs.
